Improving Your Events with Technology and Nostalgia

Event Rebels Tech Tuesday

Marketers have been using nostalgia for generations, utilizing old commercials and logos to help connect multi-generational fans and buyers. As most people experience nostalgia at least once a week (and nearly half experience it at three to four times that amount), modern marketers have quickly learned to harness the power of social media to accelerate the impact of nostalgia to drive their event campaigns. One application of nostalgia in our daily lives is Throwback Thursday, a campaign which began on various social media platforms in 2006. To put this trend into perspective, as of May 2014, the hashtag #TBT had... Read more »

Design Rebel: Spring Has Sprung!

Design Rebel Square Logo

It may still be 40 degrees outside, but Spring has officially arrived, and with Spring comes new event design trends that’ll be popping up just like that grass you’ve been patiently waiting for. Floral If you think you can escape floral arrangements, you’re dead wrong. Floral arrangements can be very mundane, unoriginal and boring, but they also have the ability to transform into some pretty spectacular decor elements for your next event. Flower walls are a very cool way to make your logo stand out. Companies, like Dior, are known for this type of branding. They create an interesting backdrop and... Read more »

Mobile Monday: Lessons From TED

Event Rebels Mobile Monday

Last week, in Vancouver, was TED’s annual conference; aptly themed “Truth and Dare” this year. I read a great article this morning from BizBash called “TED Conference Photos: 18 Steal-Worthy Ideas to Inspire Attendees,” which got me thinking. It’s one thing to steal an idea to use at your conference, but what about stealing an idea from TED that could be used year round? TED does something really well in the mobile world that I’m surprised has not yet been adopted by other conferences. With their TED talks app they share their education year round to inspire their users on... Read more »

Design Rebel: Industrial Cool

Design Rebel Square Logo

At EventRebels, we believe in the power of event design and its ability to transform attendees’ minds, as well as achieve our event goals and objectives. One of the hottest design trends is “Industrial Cool.” Although you may not have heard that term before, we’ve all seen it. Rustic materials, industrial accents and simplicity are all design trends that have burst onto the scene in 2015, and it’s no surprise that events, trade show booths, and conferences  have begun to incorporate them as well. A lot of popular new venues have taken advantage of their clean industrial look and have kept... Read more »

Mobile Monday: Attendees as Participants

Event Rebels Mobile Monday

As we continue to explore new engagement offerings for our attendees, it’s important to begin making a distinction between what an attendee and a participant is. While attendees in the past may have had a passive role at an event or conference, participants want to be involved and they consider themselves stakeholders. Crowdsourcing is a buzzword that is thrown around often when discussing participants in the event and meeting process. It will be interesting to see when an industry association like PCMA or MPI is willing to take the bullet and attempt a crowdsourced conference. The combination of social media and... Read more »

In honor of this past weekend’s Academy Awards, we thought we’d take a closer look at some of the amazing landmarks and venues that make up the home of glitz and glamour, Hollywood, California. The Dolby Theatre It’s only right that we start this off with the one and only Dolby Theatre, formerly known as the Kodak Theatre, home to the Academy Awards itself. While the Dolby Theatre has most often hosted public cultural events, such as concerts and other performances, it has also occasionally served private purposes, such as weddings and corporate events. The 180,000-square-foot, 3,400-seat Dolby Theatre is located within... Read more »
